A little clarity.
What the candle page is, what it keeps, and what you agree to when you use it.
Last updated: November 3, 2026. These terms and this privacy notice cover the candle page at amensquare.com, including shared candle links (together, the “service”).
Who we are and how to reach us
“We,” “us” and “our” mean the operator of Amen Square. Email amensquare.help@gmail.com for help, privacy requests, reports or questions about a tip. We may ask you to verify your identity. Do not send passwords or payment-card details. This inbox is not an emergency service.
Terms
Agreeing to these terms
By using the service you accept these terms. If you do not accept them, do not use it.
You must be 18 or older
You must be at least 18 years old, and able to enter a binding agreement, to use the service, with or without an account.
What this is
The candle page is a free, optional moment of quiet: you can light a candle on your screen, name it, share it and come back to it. It is not medical, counselling, religious or crisis support, and lighting a candle has no religious or legal effect. If you or someone else is in danger, contact your local emergency number.
Acceptable use
You are responsible for what you write and share. Do not post anything unlawful, threatening, harassing, hateful, sexual, graphic or exploitative; anyone’s private information; material you do not have the right to share; spam or advertising; or impersonations. Do not interfere with the service, get around its limits or security, scrape it, or use it for fraud. We may refuse words automatically, and passing that check does not mean something is allowed.
Your content
You keep ownership of what you write. By submitting or sharing it, you grant us a worldwide, non-exclusive, royalty-free, perpetual, sublicensable licence to host, store, copy, adapt, display and distribute it, to the extent needed to operate, display, moderate and promote the service. We will not display words publicly that you have not shared. You confirm that you have the rights needed to grant this licence.
If you send us feedback or suggestions, we may use them freely, without obligation to you.
Our rights
We may remove or hide any content, and suspend or end anyone’s access, at any time, for any reason or none, without notice or liability. We do not review content before it appears. We may change, pause or discontinue all or part of the service at any time without notice or liability. Shared links and saved information are not guaranteed to last, so keep your own copy of anything that matters to you. We own the service, its code and its branding; third-party materials keep their own licences.
Disclaimers
The service is provided “as is” and “as available,” without warranties of any kind, express or implied, including warranties of merchantability, fitness for a particular purpose, non-infringement, availability, accuracy and security. We are not responsible for content posted by others or for third-party services.
Limitation of liability
To the fullest extent permitted by law, we are not liable for any indirect, incidental, special, consequential or punitive damages, or for lost profits, data or goodwill. Our total liability for all claims relating to the service is limited to the greater of US$50 or the tips you paid in the 12 months before the claim arose. These limits do not apply to liability that cannot be limited or excluded by law.
Indemnity
You agree to indemnify and hold us harmless from claims, losses and costs, including reasonable legal fees, arising from your content, your misuse of the service or your breach of these terms.
Changes to these terms
We may change these terms and this privacy notice at any time by posting the new version here and updating the date above. Your continued use of the service after a change means you accept it.
If any part of these terms is unenforceable, the rest still applies. Our not enforcing a term is not a waiver of it.
Privacy
What we collect
- What you write for a candle. What you write for a candle is stored when you press Continue, even if you never share it. We use it to run, moderate and improve the service. It is not shown publicly unless you share it. Please do not write sensitive information about yourself or anyone else.
- Account information. If you sign in with Google, we receive your Google account identifier, email address and name. Google sign-in is also subject to Google’s privacy policy.
- Your days. If you sign in, the dates you light a candle.
- Shared candles. When you share a candle, its link and details such as its words and candle count. Only signed-in people can create a shared candle link, and it is kept under their account. Shared candles are visible to anyone with the link, and anyone can forward, copy or screenshot them.
- Reports and messages. What is reported, why and when, and any email you send us.
- Usage and technical information. How the service is used, and technical information such as IP address and device and browser data. We count visits in totals by approximate country, type of device and the website that referred you. We process it to operate, secure and improve the service, prevent abuse and limit requests.
Cookies and similar storage
We use essential cookies and similar browser storage to keep you signed in, remember your choices (such as music), let you manage candles you shared, prevent misuse and count visits. We do not use advertising or cross-site tracking cookies. You can clear them in your browser, but you may be signed out.
How we use and share information
We use information to provide, secure, moderate and improve the service, respond to you, prevent abuse and meet legal obligations. We do not sell your personal information or share it for cross-context behavioural advertising.
Service providers process information for us, which may happen in countries other than yours:
- Hosting and security: website hosting, storage, security checks and request limits.
- Sign-in and email: account sign-in and our support mailbox.
- Payment: only if you choose to leave a tip. See Tips.
We may also disclose information to comply with the law, protect rights and safety, or as part of a business transfer.
How long we keep it
We keep information for as long as needed for the purposes described here, to comply with law, resolve disputes and enforce our terms. What you write for a candle is kept for up to 365 days unless you share it; a shared candle stays until it is removed.
Your choices and rights
Signed in, open the account icon to download your data or delete your account. The creator of a shared candle can remove it with its Remove button. You can also email us with a request.
Deleting your account deletes the information tied to it, including your days and the shared candles kept under it. Words written while signed out are not linked to an account, so we cannot find them for you. Reports about a candle, with a copy of what was reported, may be kept after it is removed. Residual copies and backups may remain for a limited time, and some information may be kept where the law requires or permits. Copies others made cannot be recalled.
Depending on where you live, you may have rights to access, correct, delete or receive a copy of your information, to object to some processing, or to complain to a regulator. Email us to use them.
The service is for adults and not directed to children. We use reasonable safeguards, but no service is completely secure.
Tips
“Leave a tip” is optional. A tip unlocks no features and changes nothing about the service. It is not a donation or a religious offering, and it is not tax-deductible.
Tips are sold and processed by Lemon Squeezy as seller of record, under its own terms and privacy policy. We do not receive your full card details; we may receive the amount, date, name and email of the tip. Tips are non-refundable except where required by law or by the payment provider’s policy. For questions, email us with the date and your receipt reference.
Copyright complaints (DMCA notice)
If you believe a shared candle infringes your copyright, email amensquare.help@gmail.com with the subject “Copyright notice” and include:
- Your physical or electronic signature, as the owner or the person authorized to act for the owner.
- A description of the copyrighted work you say is infringed.
- The link to the candle concerned.
- Your name, address, telephone number and email.
- A statement that you believe in good faith that the use is not authorized by the owner, its agent or the law.
- A statement that the information in your notice is accurate and, under penalty of perjury, that you are the owner or authorized to act for the owner.
We may end access for repeat infringers. Knowingly false claims can carry legal liability.
